In Fall of 2008 95.96 acres were precision land formed for furrow irrigation. The dirt work was performed by Mid Delta Earthmoving with the survey and final grade check performed by Ferguson Land Forming Surveys. Irrigation Equipment installed the irrigation well and the 1,100 feet of underground line. Being able to irrigate one’s crops minimizes plant stress while maximizing yields; this in turn decreases risk while increases revenue.
A newly installed diesel powered irrigation well pumps water from less than 100 feet below the ground to water the growing corn. One of the advantages of Mississippi Delta farmland is the abundance of irrigation water, which is replenished by the Mississippi River to the west and groundwater runoff from the hills to the east. |
