Over 75% of the soils located on the Abotlapoda Creek Farm are considered prime soils by the USDA for the production of cotton. The acreage contains primarily Sandy Loam soils, consisting of Adler Silt Loam, Dubbs Silt Loam, Dundee Silt Loam, and Oaklimeter Silt Loam soils. A portion of the acreage also contains Bruno Tutwiler Complex soils (which produces excellent cotton) and Forrestdale Silt Loam (which produces good cotton and is found primarily in the hills of Mississippi). Please see the enclosed soil map and corresponding legend.
